on the premise of ‘residency’

what anchors the framework and arrangement of a ‘residency’? a commitment to ‘production’ via various ‘doing’ modes VS a commitment to ‘unfurling’ via various ‘allowing’ modes like rest- and other modes that occupy spaces between the above two commitments: ritual, practice, prayer, study.

on the desire for ‘legibility’ and ‘the tangible’

mycelium spores are illegible, and still tangible- they avoid capture in the ways that the behemoth (as Bayo would describe the heavy, all encompassing, bovine organism of white modernity) has solidified such. but we see its imprints, its impressions, its ‘acting upon’ in the world. what is legible is subject to capture. this is not to say it also doesn’t bring certain kinds of fortitude and through it, certain kinds of ‘security’ (not necessarily ‘safety’)- of course it does- and we need this to be able to live in the world.

how do we sit with this trouble of the need for a certain degree of ‘security’ that is unfortunately proportionate to our ‘legibility’?

perhaps to make our illegibilities tangible is a negotiation in this field- or maybe this is an impossible negotiation- but it still stands that we need to keep reencountering this impossibility- on different days in different ways- and that is the work

what are the spaces where illegibility and tangibility overlap- what are our mycelium spores?

a negotiation- tangible illegibilities
